George lived life on his terms. A depression era child of an immigrant family he firmly believed that life is what you make of it and his life was proof of this. Health challenges that began in his childhood and continued throughout his life were no match for his determination, tenacity and energy, even well into his 90's. His daughters affectionately referred to him as the 'Energizer Bunny on Steroids'.
In his youth, he worked many jobs before landing at the Cook County Roads Department, retiring from this career in mid-1970. He then built a small custodial business that he ran well into his 70's.
When not working, he kept busy cooking for family and friends. He filled his kitchen with delicious homemade breads, cookies, pizza and pasta, all lovingly prepared and shared with friends, family, and neighbors. He was also an avid gardener, inventor/fix it guy, dog lover, musician, bowler, and card player. He loved a good prank and spending time discussing and solving the world's problems with family and friends.
Burial will be private due to current CDC restrictions. The family will have a funeral mass and life celebration at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
