Mark Kowalczyk, 73, a criminal defense Attorney In Glen Ellyn, IL. died on Friday, September 1, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.
Beloved fiancé of Patricia (Pattie) Murray, Step-father of Steven (Eleanor) Horvath and grandfather of Teddy "Rocco"  Horvath.
Beloved son of the late Irene and Edmund Kowalczyk.
Loving step-son of Rozanne "Posy" K. Robertson. Dear Brother of Madeleine Rapsey, Mary (Howard) Rittgarn, and the late Michael Kowalczyk.
Fond Uncle of Monica, Jaimie, Mary, John, Alan and the late Stephanie.  Great Uncle of Olivia, Dominic, Donovan, Gideon, Ryan, Tyler, Jordan and Sandy
Mark led a full and colorful life. He was a DEDICATED CUB Fan and loved riding his two Harleys.  Mark had a very warm, devoted heart, especially for children, adopting two kids from the Dominican Republic to help their care.  A steadfast Master to his dog, Quin.  Zealous "justice-seeker" and defender of the accused. Always generous to a fault, he often represented many pro-bono.  A big game hunter and admirer of beautiful woods, Mark enjoyed collecting and restoring long guns of all kinds. Mark's many hobbies included rebuilding vintage trucks and woodworking.  Taco Bell and pizza were his favorites.  In his spare time, Mark was a nature lover, avid reader, small town wanderer and world traveler.
One might not have known that he was also an excellent clothing mender!  He spent many hours in Lake Geneva, WI. and enjoyed taking his guests on tours of the lake on his boat .
On Friday, September 15, 2017, a celebration of Mark's life will be held at the Morton Arboretum 4100 Route 53  Lisle, IL 60532 from 1:00-8:00PM in the Arbor/Founder Room.  SERVICES will be held at 5:00PM.
In lieu of floral tributes, a donation in Mark's name to the Morton Arboretum would be appreciated.
